Hymen Restoration:

In those unique instances where an intact hymen is essential or desireable, surgery to restore the integrity of the hymen can be performed. This has been a very popular procedure withing certain cultural groups.

Procedure – outpatient. The surgery involves creating a hymen using tissue already present. The procedure takes about 1 hour. Sutures are absorbable and the scars are not visible to the naked eye. Anesthesia – either light general anesthesia or local with IV sedation (twilight).

Postoperative course - There is very little discomfort and healing is usually complete in three to four weeks. Intercourse can be resumed once healing is confirmed.
